Monday, December 18th, 2017

Good afternoon families,

Welcome to the last week of school for the year 2017. Students will be busy this week wrapping their work up so that they can start fresh in 2018. Please note that students return to school on Tuesday, January 9th, 2018.

Students are working on their individual culminating tasks related to our shared reading of "The Wild Robot". Some of the work includes creating digital book trailers, building an animal structure, creating an inspirational life lessons handbook, and writing a newspaper article on the author Peter Brown.

To continue our study in Measurement, students are collecting data on a question that can be answered using measurement tools such as stop watches, measuring tape, meter sticks or weight scales. We are learning how to make sure that the data that we collect is accurate. Students were busy today collecting data from their classmates... enjoy the photographs that I was able to capture of true mathematicians at work. The next step will be to organize our data using a bar graph.

A few reminders for this week:

Thursday, December 21st- Last Day of school for students. This is a full day. Wear your Holiday Sweaters!

If your child will not be here for the entire week, please notify Mrs. Morden as soon as possible.

Have a wonderful evening,
Mrs. Morden

Our school community is supporting this important community project again this year. You can choose to send non-perishable food to school during the month of December and families can bring a food donation to our Winter Concert on December 14.
In Alberta, one in ten individuals experience food insecurity, with 17% of Alberta's children living in food insecure households. In Calgary, 47% of Calgary Food Bank clients are families with children. The Calgary Food Bank is the first line of emergency food support for families and individuals facing crisis.
We can work together to fight hunger. If you, or someone you know needs support with access to food, please contact our school office.
