We have settled in wonderfully into the 2017-2018 school year as grade 3 & 4 students!
Thank you for sending your child's communication folder to school this past week, this serves as an important communication tool to share important information.
Our Reader Rock Garden field trip on September 19th is approaching quickly. If you have not done so please sign and return forms. We are still looking for a few volunteers for this day- please send Mrs. Morden an email or note if you are interested.
In the past week, we have been looking closely at plants as a botanists as we learned how to use leaf shapes and margins to identify plants. In math, we have been using the Montessori materials to explore our understanding of double and triple digit addition. Students are enjoying observing our classroom pet "Lightning" the fire-bellied toad and were excited to see Ms. Romanko's fire-bellied newt "Flames" in the classroom today. It will be great to observe these two closely related creatures over the next little while. We are beginning to look at narrative texts, and began creating a "Heart Map" as a brainstorming tool. Students included ideas such as 3 important memories, people, things, and places. We will use these ideas down the road when it is time to create a narrative text, as the best ideas come straight from the heart!
I hope you have a great evening!
Mrs. Morden
New BLOG format:
As you may have noticed, I've switched blog formats this year to make it easier for you to stay informed about your child's classroom and learning. In the top, right hand corner of this page, look for the "Follow by Email" label. Enter your email address in the box below this label. Every time I update the blog, you will be sent an email notification. That way, you know exactly when I've updated the blog with important information, instead of trying to remind yourself to check in.
